On 9-5-2011,  Firefighters Responded to the report of a woods fire on FM 782, near County Road 272. Crews arrived to find a fast moving fire in a wooded area near an oil and gas location where the fire appears to have originated from.

Crews from Elderville Lakeport, Tatum, Church Hill, Beckville, and the Texas Forest Service along with help from area residents who provided two bull dozers who were a huge help in containing the fire. Fire Departments brought manpower equipment such as brush trucks, tankers, and engines that were used to contain the fire.

The fire as of this time is 100 Percent contained though there are several spots that will continue to burn inside of the containment line.
