Large Wildland Fires Sweep Through Texas
Texas Fire Departments have responded to hundreds of fires in various locations throuought the state for the last few weeks. Extreme drought conditions, combined with extreme wind. Have compunded the difficulty.
Area Fire Departments, along with Texas Forest Service, and Forest Service Crews from other states have worked dilligently along with support from Law Enforcement, and Private individuals and businesses. To evacuate people, protect homes, and contain the fires. Fires have been ranging from hundreds to several thousands of acres. Crews have been working around the clock to accomplish the tasks involved with such large scale incidents.
The efforts of the fire department have been selfless, tireless, and seemingly never ending for some departments. These efforts have not gone unnoticed as citizens of the communities have come out in force to support their departments by bringing Water, Gatorade, Snacks, Food, Wet Wipes and even money for fuel. All of which has been greatly appreciated by the Firefighters who are receiving the generous donations.
Though the donations are truly appreciated, with such and inflow of food and drinks, many departments are more than supplied with these items. And as such, many are requesting monetary donations to pay for fuel and tires, and other equipment used or damaged in the fighting of these fires.
