ELVFD Recieves New Rescue Equipment
The Elderville Lakeport VFD has taken receipt of some new rescue equipment to assist us with rescue emergencies. Thanks to generous donations from our residents and area businesses we have purchased a complete set of Hydraulic Rescue tools from TNT Rescue, as well as a set of Rescue Struts from Res-Q-Jack to be used for stabilization.
We use our Hydraulic rescue tools to remove materials around a victim that has been trapped in an accident such as a vehicle crash. One necessary part of rescue is stabilization, and the Res-Q-Jacks will be used to stabilize vehicles that have landed on their sides or roof in order to effectively and safely perform rescue operations as needed.
These new tools are far more powerful than our existing rescue tools and are capable of cutting, spreading, lifting and supporting vehicles and materials during rescue and entrapment emergencies. The Rescue tools that these will replace were more than 10 years old and due to advancements in vehicle construction and materials it had become more difficult rescues as needed.
The new tools have been received and will be placed into service as soon as additional mounting equipment arrives to mount them on our apparatus, and the necessary training has been completed to ensure our members are proficient in the operation of the new tools.

ELVFD Accepts Ice Water Challenge
At Elderville Lakeport VFD we are used to kids coming to the Fire Station with their parents to look at the fire trucks. But When 10 Year Old Kilee Menges came in to the fire station this afternoon, she was there to call us out for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
We looked around the station and found the biggest bucket we could find. So watch the video to see us call out Lindsay Bessette, Josh Stelly, Bill Freer and John Freer. You have 24 Hours to Complete this challenge or donate $100 to the ALS Association http://www.alsa.org/donate/
