Thank you for your interest in Joining the Elderville-Lakeport VFD, New members are always welcome and needed. Our success as a community service organization depends on knowledgeable and dependable people who are willing to give time and effort for a common goal.

Below you will find all the information about how to join and give back to your community.

If you would like to become a Volunteer with ELVFD please download the Member Application, and return it to Station 1 at 8875 FM 2011 E. Longview, TX 75603 or it can be emailed to charding@elvfd.com

No previous experience or training is required to become a volunteer with ELVFD, we can provide the training you need through available grants to the Fire Academy as well as in house training.

ELVFD also offers positions as members to become Fire support Volunteers, that assist our certified firefighters on calls.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and be of good physical and mental condition.

The following steps must be taken to meet the ELVFD requirements before membership can be considered.

1. Complete ELVFD application
2. Personal reference checks
3. Pass Criminal background check (No felony convictions or pending felony indictments)
4. Pass Drug Screen
5. Hold a valid driver’s license.
6. DMV status Check.
7. Must live within the ELVFD fire District to become a voting member. ELVFD will accept applications for prospective members that live up to 3 miles outside the district as non-voting members.
8. Must complete all NIMS required classes (online) ICS, 100,200,700,800 within 6 months of being accepted as a member of the ELVFD.
9. Must Complete Courage to be safe online course.
10. Must Complete National Traffic Incident Management Responder Online Course.
11. Must Attend a minimum of 4 training meetings within 6 months.

Steps 8-11 Must all be completed within 6 months of being voted in as a member of the dept.
